Leela McMullen spent her youth studying voice and theater in Australia, continuing her education at AMDA in New York. In Australia, she performed with Spotlight Theater for most of her young life, taking the stage for several shows a year. Some of her favorites include The King and I and The Mikado. With the Gold Coast Art's Center, she performed in Jospeh and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and a personal favorite, Chess, the Musical.
Her travels eventually brought her to Japan, where she has lent her voice to commercials for major brands, sung featured and backing vocals for well-known bands, and even recorded children's songs. Leela also joined the progressive rock band, Early Cross, as lead vocalist in 2019, and looks forward to releasing her first set of recordings with the band next year. Meanwhile, she found her second theatrical family in the Tokyo International Players after joining the company for Sweeney Todd and The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and is proud to be among the cast of Cinderella, returning in 2021!
